We collect
almost nothing.

Akyma Flooring is the data controller for everything described below, which means the decisions about your information are ours and so is the responsibility for them.

There is no privacy department. Write to [email protected] and it reaches the same inbox the enquiries do.

Three forms on this site collect anything at all, and this is every field on them. Nothing is gathered in the background, and nothing on any of the three is required that is not listed here.

The rest of each form is about the slab, not about you: the area in square metres, the room, the traffic it takes, what is on the floor now. We hold those because a floor cannot be specified without them.

Site visit

If you book a site visit, we come and read the floor. That produces a set of in-situ relative humidity figures taken at 40 % of slab depth, photographs of the floor and the room around it, measurements, and the address the floor is at.

That file is about a building. It becomes information about you only because your name is attached to it, and it is held on exactly the same terms as everything else on this page.

When a form is submitted, the site issues a reference, records the time, and writes the fields you filled in. That record is what lets us find your enquiry again when you ring and read the reference out. If you gave an email address, a copy goes back to it as your receipt, with the reference on it. That is the only email this site sends you.

Every form also carries a hidden field a person never sees. If it comes back filled, the submission was made by a machine and is discarded. We do not build a profile from your IP address, and we do not fingerprint the browser you arrived in.

No analytics. No advertising pixel. No remarketing tag. No embedded third-party script of any kind. The pages you are reading load from one place and call out to nowhere.

Your details are never sold, never rented, never traded for a lead list, and never passed to another contractor. We have never done it and the business does not need it.

This site remembers whether you chose the dark ground or the light one. It is stored under a single key, akyma-theme, and its entire value is one word: dark or light.

It is held in local storage rather than in a cookie, which means it is never attached to a request and never reaches our server; it exists only on the device you are reading this on. Clearing site data in your browser removes it, and the site works perfectly well without it.

Three companies, because a website has to sit somewhere and mail has to go through something: the company that hosts this site, Resend, which carries your enquiry to us and sends you its receipt, and Zoho Mail, where enquiry mail lands. All three hold it as processors on our instruction and none has any right to use it for their own purposes.

That is the complete list. We add nobody to it without revising this notice first, and where the law requires a disclosure we will tell you it happened unless we are barred from doing so.

An enquiry that goes nowhere is deleted after twelve months. A quote issued but not accepted is kept for twenty-four, because people come back a year later with the same room and the same question.

Where we have laid a floor, the file stays for seven years. That is not sentiment: the workmanship warranty runs five years from handover, a warranty claim is decided on the survey and the specification we wrote, and tax records have to be produced for longer than that.

We photograph what we lay. Some of it ends up on this site, and we ask you first, on the day, in plain words, with a straight answer accepted either way.

When a floor does appear here, the address never does. Say no and nothing changes about the work, the price or the warranty; say yes now and change your mind in two years, and it comes down when you ask.

Under the Data Protection Act 2019 these are yours, and none of them costs anything to use.

Write to [email protected] with the word PRIVACY in the subject. We acknowledge inside one working day and finish inside thirty, which is the outside limit the Act allows rather than the time we intend to take. We may ask you to confirm who you are first, because handing a file to the wrong person is itself a breach.

Erasure, except where the warranty file or tax law says otherwise.

Object to what we are doing with it, or withdraw a consent you gave.

Tell us. Most of what goes wrong with data goes wrong by accident, and an accident somebody has named is usually fixed the same week.

If we do not put it right, your complaint goes to the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner, who regulate us and whose decision binds us. You are entitled to go straight to them without speaking to us at all, and nothing on this page can take that away.

The date this was last revised is printed at the top of the page and at the foot of it. Wording that only clarifies gets changed quietly; anything that alters what we collect, who sees it or how long it stays is dated and flagged.

We do not apply a change backwards. Information you gave us under an earlier version of this notice is held on the terms that were printed when you gave it.
